The Athlete Passport

A record of development,not a verdict.

The Athlete Passport is how Big Ice describes what an athlete has done and what comes next. It is a developmental record, not a report card and not a ranking.

What it records

  • Sessions, in the order they happened.
  • Attendance, recorded at the time.
  • Coach observations with their source and context.
  • The next coaching priority, where recorded.

Record availability depends on the agreed programme and what is actually delivered.

What it deliberately is not

No radar chart. No ranking. No percentile. No composite score. No comparison against another athlete. A number with no origin cannot be checked later, so Big Ice does not publish one.

What is operational, and what is not

The Passport is a model Big Ice is building towards. Some of it runs today and some of it does not, and the difference is stated here rather than blurred.

Operational today

Certificate verification. A Big Ice certificate carries a reference that resolves to a public check confirming whether it was issued by Big Ice and is still valid.

Where included in a programme

Session, attendance and coach-attested records. Kept where enabled for a programme, and only where actually delivered.

In development

The full Passport. The complete athlete-facing credential is IN DEVELOPMENT. Verification working does not mean every Passport capability is production-ready, and Big Ice will not present it that way.

What a record actually claims

Recorded, coach-attested and independently verified are different things.

Recorded

A measurement or observation exists, with the session and the coach who made it.

Coach-attested

An identified coach stands behind it. Strong — and not the same as independent confirmation.

Independently verified

Confirmed by someone other than the person who recorded it. A coach-attested record is not independently verified unless it is explicitly labelled that way.

Checking a certificate

Every Big Ice certificate carries a reference. Entering it confirms one thing plainly: that the certificate was issued by Big Ice and whether that record is currently valid.

This is an authenticity check against the issuer. It is not external validation by a third party, and the check publishes no child's name.

Where the record is kept

Where enabled for a programme, Big Ice uses Athlytica to keep session, attendance and coach-attested assessment records. That is an infrastructure arrangement — a parent does not need to understand it to understand a Big Ice programme.

Ask what a programme includes.

Assessment, reporting, video review and progress records are provided only where included in the agreed programme and actually delivered.
