A skating programmewith a structure behind it.
Big Ice brings a defined development architecture, coaching staff and a record of what was actually delivered. A school brings the cohort, the schedule and the safeguarding framework it already operates.
What a Big Ice programme is
Coaching delivered against a structure, rather than a series of unconnected sessions.
A defined progression
F1 to F4 describes what an athlete can do. A cohort is grouped by capability rather than only by age.
Coaching, not equipment supply
Big Ice provides instruction. Surface, venue and equipment arrangements are agreed separately with the institution.
A record of delivery
Where a programme includes it, Big Ice records the sessions delivered, attendance taken at the time, and the coach's observations with their context.
The athlete comes first, and so does their record.
These are the principles Big Ice works to. They are commitments about conduct, not a description of a software product.
Purpose before collection
Big Ice asks for what a coaching decision actually requires, and says why before asking.
Context before comparison
An observation belongs to the session and programme it came from. It is not a universal score and is not compared against other athletes.
Permission before sharing
Nothing about a child is shared outside the agreed programme relationship without the authority to do so.
The athlete is the subject
The record exists to serve the athlete's development, not to market them.
What hosting a programme needs
- A suitable surface, confirmed before booking.
- A schedule that fits the cohort and the coaching staff.
- The institution's own safeguarding, consent and incident procedures.
- Agreement on what is recorded and who receives it.
What Big Ice does not do
Being clear about this is faster for everyone than discovering it in month two.
- Big Ice does not run competition. NRHL is the separate organiser for planned Nairobi inline-hockey competition.
- Big Ice does not select squads or guarantee entry to any competition.
- Big Ice does not supply or maintain equipment inventory.
- Big Ice does not issue rankings, percentiles or comparisons between athletes.
Discuss an institutional programme.
Scope, cohort, surface and schedule are worked out in conversation. Terms follow that conversation, not the other way round.
